Thank-you to our friends, alumni, & camp family who for years

CAMP CATHERINE CAPERS IS NO LONGER OPERATING AS A CHILDRENS CAMP
We are still LOCATED ON Beautiful LAKE ST. CATHERINE in VERMONT (now renting cottages)
-----------------------------------------

Friends, Friend, Friends, we'll always be...!

NEWS - we have several nice cottages for rent complete with kitchen areas, bath rooms.

For the whole family... Why not vacation at Lake St. Catherine and maybe go Camping out, or elect to stay in a nice cottage.

One can go fishing for warm water trophy fish and trout in the lake, or nearby are the Mettawee and Batten Kill Rivers (both are designated by the state of Vermont as "wild trout river and streams"), the kids can feed the "pet" fish right off the dock.

Lake St. Catherine has a wonderful 18 hole golf course with a fine restaurant at the "public course's club house" as well, or
go out to dinner at one of the many fine area restaurants,...!

Lake St. Catherine is located central to the Rutland VT, Manchester VT, Lake George NY, and Glens Falls, NY areas with easy access to Saratoga NY and the summer play houses, arts and performing arts that are found in both the Manchester VT and Saratoga NY areas.    There are many area attractions to choose from (local auctions, museums, libraries, the old Lincoln family estate in Manchester is open to public viewing and there is a 6 Flags owned Great Escape Theme Park all within about 10 to 30 minutes drive time away).  Nearby is the old D&H Rail Road that has been converted as part of the Rails to Trails pathway system (that in this area weaves it's way through the wild fields and forests passing through local villages along the way) and is ideal for biking, riding, and other activities the year around.  Many local towns and villages host many planned activities through out the year from car shows, arts and crafts fairs, farmers markets,  to local concerts in the park.

For shopping both the Manchester VT and Lake George areas (equal distance drive to both areas) have famous retail outlet centers, and Manchester is home to the Orvis Company Flag Ship Store and their outlet store as well.  The entire area is dotted with antique stores and various artists have their galleries open to the public.

Target your vacation to be here for Variety Day in Wells VT, or whenever the alumni have decided come again to camp for a week or weekend of meeting up with old and new camp friends... with a campfire on the hill.

Come visit us, even if it is just for a weekend, or a week, or two.  We would love to see you sometime this summer!

"Give to the world the best you have
and the best will come back to you"

                                          - will always be our camp's motto!

Please enjoy viewing our web site as it is all about Camp Catherine Capers and our past programs (come visit us this summer)!

Since 1952 We Welcomed all to camp Catherine Capers!  We started as place where kids could spend a summer with Audrey, changed to a riding camp, then became a horsemanship camp that did many things (including hosting Certified Horsemanship Certification Clinics).

Being a camper was an invitation to join our unique family style horsemanship camp where each camper was encouraged to  be important to her daily success, as well as the well being of her horse, the importance of her friends, the camp, and her riding progress.  Her was contribution valued as part of the camp's constructive program of fun, work, and horse events.  In our past, the campers really take great care of their horses while learning many aspects of horse care and stable management.

Campers enjoyed our multi specialty program which includes riding and swimming and many other activities offered throughout our 90 acre campus. Camp fires, cook outs, day excursions and overnight camping trips are scheduled with differerent types of activites and choices to sign up for throughout the different sessions. Some, but not all campers choose, to compete in either inter-camp or community horse shows.

Recognition of effort made meals an exciting time of sharing.  We all enjoyed celebrating a camper's attempts and successes (this added to the camaraderie as we during meals we would sing silly songs and laugh a lot).  Official Certificates of Achievement are awarded at a special campfire the night before campers go home.  Recognition of a camper's contributions are valued as part of our camp's constructive programs, fun, work, and horses.  You should have seen how our campers and our horses would shine!!!
